_____________________________________________________________ Monthly General MeetingsWe gather for our General
Meetings on the second Wednesday of every month from 7pm to 9pm. The
monthly meetings always include a time for socializing and snacks along
with club news and announcements. The program of the meeting ranges from
guest speakers (on various parent-ing or family topics) to moms-only activities
and kids events. Often dads can come too! Play GroupsMoms with children of like
ages or interests come together or are placed together to form playgroups.
The playgroups tend
to meet weekly at local parks or each other's homes to play and talk.
All playgroup participants must also be SVMC members. Placement in a playgroup
is arranged for you by our Playgroup Coordinator once she receives the
playgroup portion of your Registration Form. Monthly NewsletterThe newsletter covers upcoming club activities, community events, parenting advice, child-friendly activities, recipes, new baby arrivals, and more. It is a key way to communicate with each other. All members are encouraged to write articles, place classified ads, and share parenting tips. In-A-PinchHelping fellow members in need is the purpose of In-A-Pinch. When a member has a new baby, is in a crisis, sick, or home from the hospital, the member or a friend can call the In-A-Pinch Coordinator to ask for help. The In-A-Pinch Coordinator will organize other club members to lend a hand. Members may be called upon to prepare a meal, provide a ride somewhere, offer child care, or help with household chores. For more information about giving or receiving these services, please click here. Do you know a member who could benefit from this service? Maybe your own baby is due soon? Please contact us and let us know! Social EventsYear round, we offer many events for moms and for families, from our Valentine’s Day Dinner, Spring Egg Hunt, and Halloween Party to our Holiday Party. Other events include: Mom’s Night Out, Family Picnics, and Wine Tasting Events. Community OutreachThe goal of our Community Outreach is to help mothers, mothers-to-be, and families in the community in need. Our outreach includes clothing, diaper, and food drives as well as holiday giving. Some of the organizations we support include: FISH (Friends In Sonoma Helping), El Nido, Boys and Girls Club, La Luz, and Teen Moms. BabySitting Co-OpA club within a club is the best way to describe the Babysitting Co-op. Mothers who join the co-op agree to trade child sitting hours for coupons which are redeemed for an equal number of child sitting hours. No actual money is offered or accepted for child sitting arranged through the Babysitting Co-op. Support and Special Interest GroupsWhile all SVMC members share the common experience of expectant or early motherhhood, our individual concerns or interests can be quite diverse. For that reason all members are welcome to start and promote groups within SVMC that are meant to offer support or to share a common interest. Some of the groups that club members have already formed are Single Moms, Working Moms, Moms with Twins and Readers' Groups. Our In-A-Pinch program helps fellow members in need when in a crisis, sick, or home from the hosptial. The In-A-Pinch Coordinator will organize other club members to lend a hand. Members may prepare dinners, provide a ride somewhere, offer child care, or help with household chores. Mother to Mother SupportWe have a lot of resources for information these days by the way of the internet, but nothing will ever take the place of person-to-person communication! A new and regular feature of the SVMC is a Support List for members to access. It consists of mothers who are willing and able to share personal experience and give information about specific parenting and child-related issues and topics of which they know something about. Mom-to-Mom ExchangeThis is a collection of women who have a professional product, items of quality they no longer need, or a service that they are willing to exchange or trade for another woman's product, item or service. The idea is that no money be exchanged, although a partial payment might be appropriate in some cases. The value of the offer and how to make an exchange equitable would be up to the women participating with each other. Mom’s Night OutOn the fourth Thursday of the month it’s time to let down your hair, change into something that doesn’t have spit-up on it, and kiss your kids good-night. That’s right, it’s Mom’s Night Out. Mom's Night Out gives us an organized reason, at least once a month, to get some time for ourselves and connect with other mothers. We all know how hard it is to get out at night and be a Woman first and Mom second for a change. Meeting other SVMC Moms and reconnecting with friends can be a refreshing way to spend a couple hours. See where we are going this month... Join UsYou are welcome to attend one
of our monthly general
meetings or weekly playgroups
to learn more about SVMC and help you decide if you would like to join.
If you have already decided to join, please fill-out and return the Registration
Form including your dues (see prorated information near bottom of
Registration Form), renewable each year in October. Please make your check
payable to the Sonoma Valley Mother's Club. We will be in touch with you
shortly to discuss your interests and how the club might best serve you
and your family. View the SVMC Bylaws and Liability Waiver. If you are not already a member, join SVMC today! |
